UKIT Challenge 2019

This month The Shaw Trust saw the UKIT Challenge into it’s second year, hosted by BT at Adastral Park, Ipswich. Neoskill was there as one of the event’s sponsors, witnessing the sheer awesome abilities of the young individuals. All those taking part had disabilities which didn’t discourage them from showing off their flare and talents in IT.

Over the 3 day event, there were a series of challenges set for the participants including Movie Making, Excel and Powerpoint. Some of these challenges were set for each individual and some were team challenges. Everyone overcame their personal disabilities to take part and shine –  showing resilience, confidence and enthusiasm.

The event also had inspirational talks from Steph Hanratty (England Deaf Rugby Player), Mitchell Camp (Special Olympics World Games athlete) and Zainab Olajumoke Addullahi (Jay) (Travel Blogger and part of Triple Cripples). The talks were moving accounts of their personal challenges, all with the message that we can face life with vigour inspite of setbacks and disadvantages.

The UKIT Challenge is helping to reduce the digial divide in the IT arena and provide a platform for disabled talented young people. The aim being to upskill future leaders in IT, creating an inclusive world where no-one is left behind. Neoskill have been privileged to be part of the UKIT challenge and presented the award for the winning team in the Moviemaker challenge. We hope to continue to support the event annually.
